Jobsplus would like to inform the public that applications for the In-Work Benefit for employees with atypical working hours will be re-opened. This opportunity is intended for employees whose employers failed to submit their applications during
the initial period for the year 2024. The aim is to ensure that all eligible employees
with atypical working hours receive this benefit.
Applications can be submitted online at https://jobsplus.gov.mt/atypical starting
from 27th January. This timeline allows employers sufficient time to gather the
necessary information and submit the required applications.
Eligibility Criteria for the In-Work Benefit for Atypical Workers:
1. Employees must have worked during non-standard hours, including
weekends, nights, or on a shift basis.
2. Employment must have been in one of the following sectors:
• Accommodation and food services
• Administrative and support services
• Manufacturing
• Transport and storage
• Wholesale and retail trade
3. Employees must have been employed by a private employer.
4. Employees must have worked for at least six months in 2023.
5. Annual income (main emoluments) must not have exceeded €25,000.
6. The job where the atypical hours were worked must have been the
employee’s primary employment.
7. Employees must be residents of Malta during the calendar year the payment
is issued.
